This talk will introduce attendees to the rUM package, a tool designed to help biomedical researchers write papers. rUM integrates with the RStudio IDE to create custom RStudio projects and provides R Markdown code snippets. This rUM project contains default settings designed to help prevent accidental data leakage (using an "aggressive" .gitignore file).  rUM generates a paper template written in either R Markdown or Quarto (with rUM version 1.0). The paper template includes all the sections for an academic research paper, including a bibliography, formatted for submission to the New England Journal of Medicine by default (with additional formatting options for most journals). Automatically, rUM's bibliography cites  all the R packages used to produce the paper. Attendees will know how to use rUM to smooth the process of writing papers.
